October is bringing cooler weather, fall colors, food, music, entertainment, and some of Reno’s biggest community events. Whether you’re heading downtown, spending an evening with family, or checking out something new, there is plenty happening around the Biggest Little City.
At Capital Insurance Service, we love keeping our community updated on what’s happening around Reno—and reminding you to stay protected while you’re out enjoying it.
🏮 1. Dragon Lights Reno 2026 | October 2 – November 29

One of Reno’s most colorful fall events is back! Dragon Lights Reno returns to Rancho San Rafael Regional Park beginning October 2 with its new “Many Worlds Aglow” theme.
Visitors can walk through incredible illuminated displays featuring giant dinosaurs, pandas, butterflies, African wildlife, glowing corridors, and much more. There will also be local food vendors and hot drinks to enjoy during the cooler fall evenings.
Capital Insurance Tip: Heading out for an evening event? Don’t leave phones, bags, laptops, or other valuables visible inside your vehicle. Auto insurance and renters or homeowners insurance can provide different types of protection, so knowing what your policies actually cover is important.
Capital Insurance Service can help you review your auto, renters, and homeowners coverage before the colder months arrive.
🍝 2. The Great Italian Festival | October 10–11

Get ready to eat! The Great Italian Festival takes over downtown Reno on October 10 and 11, turning Virginia Street into a celebration of Italian food, music, and culture.
Visitors can enjoy the famous family sauce cook-off, grape stomping, live entertainment, an Italian farmers market, food booths, Kiddie Land, and more. Admission to the festival is free. Festival hours are 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday.
With thousands of people coming downtown, expect more traffic, pedestrians, and busy parking areas.
Capital Insurance Tip: Before heading downtown, make sure your auto insurance is active and your insurance card is easy to access. And for local restaurants, vendors, and small businesses taking advantage of busy festival weekends, it’s also a great time to review business and liability coverage.
🎵 3. OffBeat Music Festival | October 2–3

Music lovers have another reason to get out during the first weekend of October. The OffBeat Music Festival is scheduled for October 2–3 and brings live music and a lively atmosphere to Reno.
Events like OffBeat are a great way to support local entertainment, restaurants, bars, artists, and businesses while enjoying a night out with friends.
Capital Insurance Tip: A busy event weekend means more cars on the road and more people moving around downtown. Drive carefully, plan your parking ahead of time, and make sure your auto coverage still fits your needs.
For business owners, increased foot traffic can also be a reminder to check general liability, commercial property, and business insurance coverage.
🎭 4. SNAFU Con 2026 | October 9–11

Anime, gaming, cosplay, and pop-culture fans can head to the Reno-Sparks Convention Center for SNAFU Con 2026, happening October 9–11.
Conventions bring visitors from around Northern Nevada and beyond, helping support hotels, restaurants, shops, rideshare drivers, and other businesses throughout the Reno area.
Capital Insurance Tip: Whether you’re attending the convention, traveling into Reno, or operating a business that gets busier during major events, having the right coverage can help protect you when something unexpected happens.
